The new design-defining element is the filigree steel construction presented, which, as a second shell, completely wraps the existing structure in an enclosed oval. It not only fulfills the purpose of supporting the spacious balconies, but also calms the outdated interactions of the existing concrete structure.
The façade’s wireframe and steel ribs are arranged to permit unrestricted views from floor-to-ceiling windows; they also allow the integration of small, additional grating balconies, which support planted greenery that elevate green softscapes even to residents at the higher levels of the tower.
Overall, from an urban planning perspective, a finely structured lightly built mass emerges, behind which the history of the building comes to light on closer inspection.
