SUMMARY OF EXPERIENCE

More than a decade of international experience working in the design and planning industry in the United States, Germany and Saudi Arabia. Projects and experience range from master planning, urban regeneration, high-rise buildings and campus projects as well as restoration of existing buildings. Rudy has served as a technical advisor for multiple public sector projects in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

→Waterfront Marina Development – KSA: Concept Master Plan and Architectural Design of an iconic waterfront marina central to the development of a large greenfield development. The approach integrates the region’s cultural identity and vernacular heritage in a contemporary seaport.
→Al-Ula Astronomy Research Complex – KSA: Selected by HRH, the masterplan and architecture project is a state of the art center for scientific research and tourism that is integrated in the geographical and historical identity of the region. Service was focused on concept and design curation, including strategic feasibility and spatial asset briefing.
→Al-Malaz Urban Analysis and Mapping – KSA: Collaborated with ASP and Riyadh Amana on urban renewal, conducting geospatial studies and on-site assessments, resulting in 1000+ housing profile sheets.
→Islamic World District, Al-Madina Al-Munawara – KSA: Master Plan, Urban Design and Architectural for a hospitality development of hotels, 3000+ residential units, amenities, and commercial spaces.
→Public-Private-Partnership Technical Consulting for 10 Housing master plans – KSA: Technical advisor for planning, architecture, and engineering, focusing on feasibility for housing cities across 11 sites, in partnership with strategy and financial advisors.
→Cultural Museum & Educational Center (restoration & new additions) – KSA: Restoration & new building additions to a national heritage site. Museum & educational centers integrate VR/AR experiences, state of the art labs, food courts & shaded green & outdoor spaces.

→Twin Hillside Apartments – Germany: Conceptually charged contemporary design proposal for apartment buildings in a residential neighborhood. Project has received pre-permit approval by authorities.
→Building Restoration & building additions in City Center – Germany: Revamped 70-year-old building (1954) with a modern penthouse addition & reactivation of ground floor office spaces. Building Permit was granted by authorities.
→High-Rise Residential Building – Germany: Redesign of a residential tower providing abundant natural light & new balconies with accommodation for low-maintenance plants & outdoor spaces. Approach maximizes pragmatic construction methods & esthetic input.
→Eco-Lodges Luxury Hospitality / 3rd Prize award – UAE: Environmentally optimized Hotel Pods with maximized views to the natural landscape of the site. Usage of lightweight materials & operable shading structures mitigate use of energy intensive cooling devices.
→Aquapods Urban Design Intervention / 1st Prize award – UAE: Public space outdoor design solution to optimize human outdoor comfort in a harsh climate. Combined lightweight structures & landscape design solutions to generate a micro-climate suitable for pedestrian activity.
→Urban Ventiscapes – collaboration with Cisco / Idea of the Year 2021 – UAE: Urban Design intervention focused on public spaces that collect environmental data in an urban neighborhood. Integrated displays communicate this data with urban dwellers to raise awareness & promote sustainable actions.
